We hosted this event on March 31, 2022 at Hotel Indigo Club Rialto. We had 90 or more attendees. Our Tango Bootcamp was in the first hour of the event was very well attended. We had 30 people (15 couples) learn basics of Tango and all of them stayed for the social dancing.
We also had a professional Emcee at the event – Andrea Griffith-Girtz. Joshua Jones from the Athens Banner Herald came to document with photos. Many of these photos were provided by him.
6:00 – 6:45 Tango bootcamp to warm up your muscles and your minds, and to teach newcomers who want to learn some basic tango steps.
6:45 – 7:30 Social dancing
7:30 – 8:00 Four performances:
- Fuad and Stephanie – “Take me to Church” from Dancing with the Athens Stars
- DanceFX – Bachata performance
- UGA Salsa Club – Salsa Rueda
- DanceFX – Salsa performance
8:00 – 8:30 Social dancing to tango, salsa, merengue and bachata DJ music.
8:30 – 9:00 – To end the night Athens Tango Project will perform a tanda of Tango music for social Tango dancing.
